Dalšími významy awasu 合わす – spojit, sjednotit, stmelit, přizpůsobit, uvést do harmonie. I pochází z ITTE a Ai z Awasu a je zkrácené vyjádření a způsob, jak si pamatovat tuto frázi. O významu předpony "I Ai" ve slově iaidó: "Fráze Tsune Ni ITTE Kyu Ni Awasu" znamená "Vždy, co děláte, ať už spíte, jdete, běžíte nebo sedíte (Tsune Ni)" a "Ať jste kdekoliv (ITTE, Iru)" musíte "Být napojeni (Awasu) " (být napojeni na dění kolem sebe, být jeho součástí). Tasením meče se útok blokuje, odráží, či se rovnou eliminuje samotný protivník nebo popřípadě až dalším následným sekem. Způsob použití meče je v iaidó založen na skutečnosti, že již tasení meče z pochvy je bojovou reakcí na okolnosti, kdekoliv se člověk nachází, tak je schopen bezprostředně a adekvátně reagovat na vzniklou situaci. V překladu se dá slovo Iaidó zhruba vyložit jako „cesta duševní rovnováhy a okamžité reakce“. Iaidó (japonsky: 居合道), (čti jako iaidó) je souhrnný název pro některé způsoby japonského šermu.Nukitsuke is a quick horizontal cutting motion. Because of this non-competitive aspect, and iaidō’s emphasis on precise, controlled, fluid motion, it is sometimes referred to as “moving Zen.” Iaidō does not include direct competition or sparring of any kind.
Multiple person kata exists within some schools of iaidō, when those iaidōka (practitioners of iaidō) will usually use bokken for such kata practice. Some, usually more experienced iaidō practitioners, use a sharp edged sword (shinken).īecause iaidō is practiced with a weapon, it is almost entirely practiced using forms, or kata. While new students of iaidō may start learning with a wooden sword (bokken) depending on the teaching style of a particular instructor, many of those who study iaidō use a blunt edged sword (iaitō). Iaidō, approximately translates as “the way of mental presence and immediate reaction”, is a Japanese martial art associated with the smooth, controlled movements of drawing the sword from its scabbard, striking or cutting an opponent, removing blood from the blade, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard.
